Anthropic Releases Report on How Optimistic People Are About AI

Anthropic has released a new global report that shows how people feel about artificial intelligence, and the results reveal a mix of excitement and concern. The study gathered responses from over 80,000 people across 159 countries, offering a broad look at how AI is viewed in different parts of the world.

One of the clearest findings is that people in developing regions, especially Sub-Saharan Africa and parts of Asia, are more optimistic about AI than those in Western Europe and North America. Many respondents in these regions see AI as a tool that can open up new economic opportunities.

They believe it can help them earn more money, start businesses, and improve their overall quality of life. In contrast, people in more developed regions appear more cautious, focusing on the risks that come with rapid technological change.

Across all regions, the main expectation from AI is economic gain. People are not just interested in the technology itself, but in how it can improve their work and financial situation. The workplace is where AI is already making the biggest impact. Many respondents said they use AI to increase productivity by handling repetitive and time-consuming tasks. This allows them to focus on more important and strategic work.

At the moment, AI is mostly used for routine tasks such as administrative work, billing, and other back-office functions. However, this is beginning to change. New developments in AI are making it possible for systems to handle more complex responsibilities. This shift is raising concerns about job security.

In fact, job displacement was one of the top worries in the report, with many people fearing that AI could replace them in the future, regardless of their profession.

The report also shows that not everyone benefits from AI in the same way. Independent workers, such as freelancers and small business owners, are seeing more financial benefits compared to salaried employees. This suggests that those who can adapt quickly and use AI creatively may gain the most.

There is still a debate about whether AI will reduce inequality or make it worse. Some experts believe it can level the playing field by giving everyone access to the same tools. Others argue that countries with better infrastructure and resources will benefit more, leaving others behind.

Anthropic also noted that the study has some limitations, as it mainly included people who already use AI. This means the results may be more positive than the views of the general population.

Overall, the report shows that while people are hopeful about what AI can offer, there are still serious concerns about fairness, access, and the future of work.

As tech companies like Core AI Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ: CHAI) penetrate more markets and the AI-enhanced features of their solutions become more apparent, many more people could get inspired to explore the nearly limitless possibilities of this technology as they see their economic benefits increase.
