Why More Tech Executives Are Sharing Their AI Dreams

In recent years, a strange trend has taken hold among the world’s most powerful tech leaders. One by one, they have started writing long, personal essays about artificial intelligence and why they believe it will change the world for the better. Mark Zuckerberg is the latest to join this club. He recently published a lengthy letter called “The Future is for Everyone,” setting out his hopes for what AI could bring to society.

This is not a new habit. Marc Andreessen, the Silicon Valley investor, wrote something similar back in 2023, calling it the “Techno-Optimist Manifesto.” He argued that new technology, including AI, was the best tool humans have for solving problems. A year later, OpenAI’s Sam Altman shared his own vision in an essay titled “The Intelligence Age,” describing a future where human progress speeds up dramatically. Anthropic’s Dario Amodei also wrote his own version, focused on how AI might improve healthcare, science, and even politics.

So why are so many of these executives suddenly turning into writers? Part of the answer is timing. AI is now affecting real jobs, real industries, and real lives, and the public is starting to ask hard questions. Some economists warn that AI could disrupt a huge share of jobs worldwide. At the same time, companies like Meta have cut thousands of workers while investing heavily in AI development. This gap between words and actions has not gone unnoticed, and it may be one reason these leaders feel they need to explain themselves.

There is also a competitive angle. Companies are now deciding whether to make their AI tools open for anyone to use and adapt. This is a big decision, especially as reports emerge of powerful AI systems behaving in unexpected or troubling ways. With Chinese companies also releasing strong open AI models, Western firms may feel pressure to prove they are still leading the conversation.

Some observers see these essays as more than just genuine reflection. They suggest that writing a big, thoughtful manifesto is also a way for executives to appear wise and philosophical, shaping how the public sees both them and their companies. It positions them as deep thinkers guiding humanity through a difficult moment, not just business leaders chasing profit.

Whether the public actually believes these messages is another matter. Many people remain skeptical, especially as concerns grow about job losses and the environmental cost of AI. Still, as long as AI continues to reshape daily life, it seems likely that more tech leaders will keep reaching for the keyboard to explain, defend, and promote their vision of the future.

Is a time coming when we should also expect a lengthy manifesto on AI from executives at companies like Core AI Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ: CHAI) explaining how the technology is taking their fields to a whole new level?
