A recent poll conducted by Gallup has found that more than half of all employees in the U.S. use AI tools while at work. The poll’s findings were released on Tuesday and provide insights into how quickly artificial intelligence use is gaining ground in workplaces and among employees.
According to the poll, 52% of workers say they use artificial intelligence at least a few times each year. When a similar poll was conducted in 2024, just 27% revealed that they used these tools while at work. This shows that AI use is increasing at a high pace in companies and among employees.
Gallup has been conducting similar polls and this latest one is the first to find that more than 50% of employees in the U.S. are using AI for work-related purposes.
The survey sought to find out how exactly employees are using AI. The data revealed that most workers are turning to these tools to find, draft and edit information. 51% of the respondents reported that they turned to AI for help in writing or editing; 49% said they used the technology to conduct research or search for information; and 39% used AI to solve problems or obtain general assistance in their work.
During Q2 of this year, only 41 percent of the workers polled by Gallup said their workplaces had integrated artificial intelligence. This latest survey revealed that the percentage had grown to 47 percent, a significant increase in just one quarter.
This survey also revealed what employees think about AI regulation in the U.S. About 66% said they didn’t think the government would effectively regulate this technology. In another such poll conducted in 2024, this number was just over 60%. This shows that more people are losing confidence in the ability of the government to oversee AI in an effective way.
60% revealed distrust in the ability of AI firms to develop AI responsibly. This creates a dilemma because if people believe that neither the government nor tech firms can properly regulate how AI is developed or used, then users are on their own, and that exposes them to potential harms arising from the proliferation of this technology.
As AI continues to be deployed to enhance employee productivity, the technology is also making its way into various industries that cater to the leisure needs of the population. Gaming, for example, is increasingly incorporating AI as firms like Core AI Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ: CHAI) integrate artificial intelligence into their platforms.
